Journey for Sight

The Journey for Sight, a snowmobile fundraising event, originated in Birtle, Manitoba in 1983. This ride was initially one sled-one rider collecting pledges for worthwhile causes. Today, snowmobile riders from Northern, Central and Southern Manitoba, and most recently, from Northwest Ontario, will typically ride a minimum of 200 kilometres visiting various communities collecting pledges before a rendezvous in Brandon for the presentation of funds and guest speakers. To date more than $2,000,000 has been raised.

Riders and crew graciously accept cash or cheques. Gifts of $20 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt. Expenses incurred for the Ride are paid by the participant or a sponsoring Lions Club.

Lions Foundation and Lions eye Bank program sincerely appreciate the dedication and commitment demonstrated year in and year out by the organizers, riders, and crew, and sponsors of Journey For Sight. Funds raised directly support on-going efforts with sight-related issues.

We must also acknowledge the significant efforts of the Birtle Lions Club for their generous support through proceeds of an annual raffle, and the dedicated Journey For Sight riders and crew from Morden and District Lions Club.

Journey for Sight is held every January.  Check back for details regarding the 2019 ride.

Our sincere appreciation for the dedication and commitment demonstrated by the Journey for Sight as the 2018 Ride raised over $70,000 in support of the Lions Eye Bank program to continue their ongoing efforts with sight related issues. A portion of the funds was utilized to purchase an Eye Screener for the Lions KidSight program available to all Clubs in 5M13.

The Birtle Lions Club once again conducted the raffle with net proceeds of $17,200. The Morden & District JFS Riders also made a significant contribution to a very successful fundraising event.

2018  GRAND TOTAL
