The LIONS FOUNDATION of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario was established in 1981 as a registered non-profit charitable organization, having evolved from Lions Disability Fund for Children, Inc. to reflect the wider scope of community members who were receiving assistance.
LIONS FOUNDATION of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario and it’s programs are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Financial support is provided by Lions Clubs and their members, as well as community-minded individuals and organizations. Lions are recognized worldwide for their humanitarian services to the blind and visually impaired. This began when Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become “knights of the blind” in 1925.
We support, promote and foster programs for the benefit of both children and adults that are in need of assistance who live in the communities throughout Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
Our Vision Programs serve to improve the vision of those who are visually impaired. We provide financial assistance to those in need of eyeglasses and those in need of adaptive technology.
Lions Foundation Helping Hands Program strives to ease the financial burden many families face when dealing with medical issues not covered by Provincial
Health Care.
Lions foundation Hearing Program aims to support, promote, develop and foster programs to benefit persons experiencing hearing loss regain stability and
balance.
We offer financially subsidized accommodations to adults and children from northern and rural Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario who must travel to Winnipeg for medical treatment.
The LIONS FOUNDATION of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario programs rely on donations from people like you.
What happens when the provincial health plan does not cover medical procedures or equipment? Many people that do not have
financial means rely on Lions Foundation for help in acquiring eyeglasses, hearing aids, or prosthetics.
Your gift helps to improve the quality of life for someone in need.
