Helping Hands

Lions Foundation Helping Hands Program strives to ease the financial burden many families face when dealing with medical issues that are not covered by Provincial Health Care.

We provide financial assistance for:

  • Expenses incurred related to out-of-town travel for medical treatment
  • Obtaining mobility equipment, prosthesis, and medical appliances
  • Physical rehabilitation therapy

Who is eligible?

To be eligible, applicants must meet low-income eligibility criteria and demonstrate financial hardship related to medical treatment, program participation, or required equipment.

A Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency for each adult residing in the same household must be provided, along with supporting documentation from a doctor, caseworker, or social worker.

How To Apply

1. Complete the financial assistance application.

2. Sign the consent form.

2. Include a supporting letter from the doctor, case worker, or social worker.

3. Include the most recent Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency for the applicant and a spouse, or all other adults living in the same household.

4. Include at least two quotes for the requested medical equipment or modifications (if applicable).

5. Submit the above documents to your community Lions Club or to the Lions Foundation of Manitoba & Northwestern Ontario office.

Once all the documentation has been submitted, the application will be reviewed by the local Lions Club and a committee from the Lions Foundation. A decision will be made to approve or deny the application, and the Lions Foundation will notify the applicants accordingly.
